I am a native Montanan who spent my high school years in Grand Junction, Colorado. After graduating with a B.A. in History from Western State College in Gunnison, I moved to Lake City in 1981. I was part of the team that started Grace Fellowship of Lake City in 1987. In addition to pastoring, I have worked as a fly-fishing guide, writer, and editor. God has given me a heart for missions as well as pastoring and I have led numerous trips to the Apache Reservation in Arizona and to Managua, Nicaragua.
I was born in Alaska but spent most of my growing up in Phoenix, AZ. Having a great love of travel, and adventure I bounced around a lot, both living and working in numerous places but also traveling in the US and internationally. I have lived in Lake City full time since 1999 and started a construction company a few years after I moved here. God blessed me in that endeavor and even more so with a wonderful wife Emily who I met in Lake City. We were married in 2007 and together we continue to build memories in our little mountain town. I was raised in a Christian home and became a believer at a young age; however, I did not fall deeply in love with Jesus until later in life. What a ride that has been! I never thought you could have so much fun as a Christian.
I was born and raised in Junction City, Kansas. I left home at 18. In 1976 I was married to Annie. I was 19, and she was 18. We both became Christians shortly before we were married. We had our first child (Karen) in 1977 and our second (Kristen, a boy) in 1978. We were in a Christian band for several years – we were horrible. My career caused us to move around the country following opportunities that arose. Annie was a stay-at-home mom who homeschooled our kids. We now have two grandchildren, and we are retired. We live in Lake City, Colorado, full-time. After 45 years as a Christian and many of these years spent in church leadership, I’ve come to one basic conclusion: Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so, little ones to him belong, for I am weak, but He is strong.
